Interfaith Prayer of Blessing Ceremony
An Interfaith Prayer of Blessing Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 1, at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony is to commemorate our Graduates’ accomplishments and will take place at The First Unitarian Church, 809 South Fourth Street.
Everyone participating in the ceremony must be in line no later than 8:30 a.m. Undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff and administrators are to line up, two-by-two, without regard for academic departments. If the weather is fair, you may stand in line outside. In the event of rain, please go directly into the church vestibule. The church is fully air-conditioned.
Graduates are to wear gowns and mortar boards but not academic hoods. Faculty, staff and administrators are to wear the full academic regalia (gown, mortar board and hood).

COMMENCEMENT
The 2012 Commencement exercises will take place at the Canaan Christian Church located at 2840 Hikes Lane on Saturday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. Graduates check-in at 8:30 a.m. and line-up by 9:00 a.m.
Each graduate will be allotted 4 guest tickets for seating on the first floor and balcony of the church sanctuary. Additional seating for other guests will be available in satellite areas with video monitors. Families with small children are requested to use the satellite/video viewing areas.
Students will receive an e-mail invitation sent to their Spalding e-mail account. This e-mail has a link to the event at http://spaldingcommencement.eventbrite.com/ which will allow students to register up to four guests and print one ticket per guest. Wheel chair and scooter-accessible space for guests with tickets is available on a limited basis within the direct viewing area in the sanctuary. We ask that you contact us in advance to reserve one of these spaces at kbaumgart@spalding.edu
Graduation applications are due by 8am on Monday, April 23rd. Applications should be submitted through Web Advisor.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO GRADUATE
- Check your degree evaluation on Web Advisor to make sure you are completing all required courses. Once you have signed up for all of your final courses, submit your online graduation application through Web Advisor.
- Anyone who is finishing coursework in June or August and plans to attend Commencement should answer “Yes” to the “Walking Early?” question.
- A $150 graduation audit fee will be applied to your account, regardless of whether or not you plan to attend Commencement.
- Double-check your account balance with Enrollment Services. If you owe any money or have an existing account hold, you will not be allowed to participate in Commencement!
- If you are in a major that requires special testing or certification (for example, nursing or education), check with your advisor regarding those deadlines.
- Doctoral students will also need to submit a copy of the dissertation signature page, if already defended, or the title of the dissertation and dissertation chair’s name, if they expect to defend by May 2, 2012.
- PSYD students whose last requirement is Internship can participate in Commencement only if the internship will be completed by Aug. 31st, 2012, subject to direct verification by Dr. Steve Katsikas.
- PSYD students whose last requirement is Dissertation can participate in Commencement only if the dissertation is completed and defended, all required documentation submitted, and final edits to the dissertation made by May 2, 2012.
- EDD students whose last requirement is the Dissertation can participate in Commencement only if the dissertation is completed and defended, all required documentation submitted, and final edits to the dissertation made by May 2, 2012.
To receive a diploma on time, it is imperative you complete the aforementioned steps!

SPECIAL TIPS
Take your time with your degree evaluation. Be involved and ask questions.
If you have taken any courses as a visiting student or a Metroversity student, or have transferred in from another institution, make sure all official transcripts have been received by the Registrar’s Office and that these courses have been posted to your transcript.
If you have taken any courses in which you received either an Incomplete or a grade of X, make sure that final grades have been turned in.
Please type your name on your graduation application exactly how you want it to appear on your diploma.
If you plan to attend graduate or professional school, make sure that you have ordered official transcripts well in advance. Also, make sure that you are aware of any additional requirements, such as taking the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc. KNOW YOUR DEADLINES!
Graduation Fair
On Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., the Bookstore at Spalding University will host a Graduation Fair in the Egan Leadership Center Lobby. This fair will assist students with all graduation needs to make this occasion truly memorable. There will be a representative from Herff Jones available to discuss and take orders for class rings, announcements and academic attire. In addition, the bookstore also carries three different styles of Spalding University diploma frames and other gifts for graduates.

Students graduating who did not order their gowns at the Graduation Fair can purchase their academic attire on-line at http://www.herffjones.com/college/graduation until April 23, 2012 or at the Spalding Bookstore beginning April 2, 2012 through April 30, 2012. A $10 rush fee will apply for all orders placed after May 1 and a $20 rush fee after May 14. All students planning to participate in Commencement activities must purchase the appropriate attire. Pickup your order on or before May 28 to correct any sizing errors.

If other methods of ordering do not work, the Bookstore can order your attire for you as long as you provide them with your height, weight, cap size and degree earned. Graduation Announcements and Class Rings
Announcements can be ordered at the Graduation Fair or on-line at www.herffjones.com/college. Full payment is due at time of your order. All announcement orders with regular shipping take 2-3 days for home delivery. Rush ordering is available on announcements. Class rings can be ordered at the Graduation Fair or by phone at 502-240-0505. A $100 deposit is due at the time of the order. You may also schedule an appointment with the Herff Jones Company at their local Jeffersontown office. Mail in orders: Herff Jones Company/PO Box 99612/Louisville, KY 42069.
Attention Graduating Students
Spalding University is looking for a student who is graduating this year, to sing the National Anthem at the Commencement Ceremony on June 2, 2012.
The Office of Student Development and Campus Life will host auditions. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
The song will be performed without musical accompaniment (during both the audition and the actual performance at graduation), and the auditions will be evaluated by no fewer than three members of the Student Development and Campus Life staff.

ORDERING TRANSCRIPTS FROM SPALDING UNIVERSITY
Transcripts can be requested through the Spalding website (www.spalding.edu ). Click on the “Need A Transcript?” link.
Transcripts usually take three to five working days to process, so do not wait until the last minute to order. Transcripts can also be sent electronically to a valid email address.
A charge of $7 per copy will be assessed when ordering a transcript. Transcripts will not be released until payment is received.
