New Recycling Program at Spalding
Beginning in mid-April, Spalding University will be changing procedures for waste disposal and recycling. Spalding is partnering with QRS Recycling to implement “Single Stream Recycling.” The new recycling program is a no sort, cost effective, simple and efficient method of recycling more and wasting less. It is worth repeating, “Single Stream Recycling” eliminates sorting. You simply place cardboard, paper, aluminum and tin cans, and plastic bottles into one container and leave the sorting to us! It’s quick, simple, and takes up less valuable space in your work environment. It’s all about being more efficient and environmentally responsible. Recycling containers will be labeled in offices, class rooms and public areas. For non-recyclable items trash containers will be located in public areas near class rooms and offices. Bins like those above will replace the old dumpsters on campus.
You will now be able to recycle all forms of paper, envelopes, junk mail, magazines, notebooks, non-waxed cardboard, water and soda bottles, cans, empty paper cups, food containers, paper bags and more. You do not need to remove staples, binding, or paper clips.
Items that are not recyclable by QRS and must be disposed of as trash include Styrofoam, plastic grocery bags, food, restroom paper and Kleenex.
A complete list of items that can be recycled is in the document below.
