Welcome to the School of Business!
I have taught marketing classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level at Spalding since 1998 and have served as Chair of the School of Business since 2005. I teach courses on many different marketing topics including consumer behavior, how to promote products and services traditionally and using the internet and social media, how to research products and consumers and how to distribute and sell goods. Marketing is an amazing discipline because not only does it affect us in our everyday lives but it is also the core of a successful business. In all of my classes I strongly believe in the use of active learning and real-world application. I also believe that you should be able to have fun in the classroom and I truly enjoy teaching all of our students!
A little about me personally
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Louisville in 1997. I met my husband in the doctoral program at Mississippi State and he is also in higher education at another local University (to remain nameless, I do not want to give the competition extra free publicity!). I love my hometown, it is a great place for food, drinks, music, unique festivities (think Mardi Gras!) and of course, the 2010 Superbowl Champs the Saints! In my free time I like to spend time with my daughter, Lilly. I also love to shop, watch T.V., workout, and go to concerts (in case you were wondering , Pearl Jam is my favorite band, followed closely by many other bands that are too numerous to name!).
And last (but certainly not least) my educational and professional background
I have a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and an MBA from Nicholls State University, and a Doctorate in Marketing from Mississippi State University. My private-sector experience included work as a market research analyst and an emergency preparedness coordinator for the American Red Cross. My research in marketing has been published in such journals as Psychology and Marketing, the Journal of Services Marketing, the Journal of Business Ethics, and the Journal of Applied Social Psychology. Professionally, I am affiliated with the American Marketing Association, the Marketing Management Association and the Association for Business Communication. I am currently on the Board of Directors for the American Marketing Association and the Jefferson County Public Schools BIT Partnership Council. Previously, I held membership on the executive board of Dress for Success Louisville and the Metro United Way Marketing Cabinet.
