Internships

All liberal studies majors are required to take part in an internship. This is an opportunity for liberal studies, humanities, social science, and creative writing majors to apply knowledge and experiences gained through their studies to a work environment that best fits each student’s career aspirations. The goals of the internship are to (1) learn about and contribute to an organization’s purpose and goals; (2) hone abilities to write clearly, think creatively and observe closely within the culture of the site; (3) interact and learn from professionals in the organization; and (4) develop contacts for future employment opportunities. After completing an internship, 94 percent of School of Liberal Studies’ majors surveyed have indicated that interning provided them with a meaningful work experience preparing them for their careers.
