Online Graduate Application

MFA students may apply online. If you choose, you can start your application now and finish it up at a later time.

You will be asked for your contact information, to list all the colleges you have attended and the dates you attended, to enter your work experience, and to enter your emergency contact information. When asked what program, you are applying to, choose Master of Fine Arts in Writing and the main area of concentration that you will apply in (fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, writing for children and young adults, playwriting, or screenwriting), even if you apply in more than one area. Remember, MFA students DO NOT have to take the GRE.

List any previous publication or prize information in the the section that asked for “academic honors.” Or you may include this information in essay 2 (your background essay).

Within a few hours of begining the appication, you will be sent an email with a web address and application number that allows you to return to the site and edit or complete your application.

After completing all sections, click submit. You will be able to print out a copy of the application. The MFA Program does not mail out any additional information, but you will be contacted by the university by email to let you know we received your application.

To pay your $30 application fee by credit card, you may call 800-896-8941 x 4326 or x 4335 or call 502-873-4326 or 502-873-4335. You may mail a check for $30 to Admissions, Spalding University, 845 S. Third St., Louisville, KY 40203.
