BSSW Program

Spalding Social Work Students 2010

Spalding’s BSSW program, established in 1977, is the oldest accredited undergraduate social work program in metropolitan Louisville.

Full or part time study is available and offered in a format that gives students the opportunity for intensive study while still maintaining their jobs and their roles as partner, parent or just concerned/active community member!

Spalding’s unique six-week format allows students to concentrate their efforts on no more than two classes each session.

Students graduate from the BSSW program with skills in interviewing, intake and referral, intervention planning, case management, crisis intervention, community outreach, advocacy and research.

Our goal is simple: to provide excellence in education so that you can provide excellence to your community! We genuinely believe we can change the world…one social worker at a time!

Using social justice as our framework, students prepare for careers in direct generalist practice in many different settings including

  • Mental health programs
  • Substance abuse facilities
  • Community action agencies
  • Family service centers
  • Child and adult protective services
  • Domestic violence programs
  • Faith based ministries
  • Criminal justice agencies
  • Aging services/Gerontology
  • And More!
