Alum Frank X Walker Wins NAACP Image Award

Frank X Walker ’03, Master of Fine Arts in Writing alum and Kentucky Poet Laureate, was recently honored at the 45th NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, Calif. He received the Outstanding Literary Work in Poetry award for his newest collection of poetry, “Turn Me Loose: The Unghosting of Medgar Evers” (University of Georgia Press, 2013).

“Turn Me Loose” is the Spalding MFA in Writing program’s Book in Common for Spring 2014.  Walker, a Diana M. Raab Distinguished Writer in Residence at Spalding, will speak to the public about his book at 5:30 p.m. on May 29 at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Ky.
