On Jan. 18, Spalding alumna Therese Warrick ’00 received the Coretta Scott King Spirit of Ivy Award for Community Leadership from the Beta Gamma Omega Lexington Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Warrick is the director and founder of Sisters Road to Freedom, Inc.–a nonprofit organization that provides support and empowerment to women and teenage females. Since 2011, Sisters Road to Freedom has served the community through food assistance,¬†legal clinics, clothing giveaways for families in need, monetary assistance for medical bills, water, electric/gas bills, and other emergency needs. ¬†Warrick is also an inspirational speaker, teacher, writer; she serves as the director of women’s ministry at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky.
