Bobbie Rafferty – Chief Development Officer: Bobbie Rafferty came to Spalding University in 2008 as Director of Advancement and Philanthropy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Converse College, and was a member of the inaugural graduating class from the Arts Administration program at Southern Methodist University, where she simultaneously earned both an M.A. in Arts Administration and an MBA.
Bobbie has extensive experience in development and marketing in the non-profit sector, having worked with such institutions as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Skylight Opera Company, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the Kentucky Opera, and the J. B. Speed Art Museum. Her experience with academic institutions includes over a decade in various roles at the University of Alabama, where she served as Coordinator of College Advancement in the College of Arts and Sciences, as an instructor in the School of Music, as Director of the Graduate Program in Theatre/Arts Administration and Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance. At Alabama, she developed and taught courses in non-profit management and fund raising/development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and was active in campus and city organizations involved in cultural development, public education, and outreach initiatives. Cathi Biller – Manager of Alumni Relations: Cathi recently joined the Spalding University staff in September 2012. In her Alumni Relations role, she is responsible for coordinating all Alumni activities including efforts of the Alumni Association Board and creation and management of social media in support of Alumni communication and outreach. Most recently Cathi was the Regional Development Associate for Franciscan Alliance healthcare system in Northwest Indiana. She has wide-ranging experience in various areas of non-profit fundraising including grant writing, event planning, donor stewardship activities, volunteer leadership boards and capital campaign initiatives.

Lori Hagest – Manager of Annual Giving: Lori started at Spalding University in September 2011 as Manager of Annual Giving. She is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating the Annual Fund and other annual giving initiatives. Lori has worked in fundraising for over 13 years. She was the Assistant Director at The Mary Anderson Center for the Arts (an artist colony in Mt. St. Francis Indiana) and most recently the Manager of Grants and Donor Support at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville. She has extensive experience in many areas of development including annual giving, major donors, grant writing, corporate membership and sponsorship programs, planned giving, volunteer and internship programs and event planning and coordination (including the Mary Anderson Center’s Biannual Alumni and Friends Art Show and the Speed Museum pARTnership Ball).

Beth Henley – Coordinator of Donor Relations and Stewardship: Beth began working in the Spalding Admission’s Office in 2004, after 10 years as a teacher’s assistant for the primary grades at Holy Family School in Louisville. In 2006, she joined the Office of Advancement and Philanthropy and is now the Coordinator of Donor Relations and Stewardship. Beth is charged with ensuring responsive Donor Relations in the Office of Advancement and Philanthropy. She is also responsible for the coordination of activities related to the donor community, including gift clubs, thank-a-thons, mail appeals, giving campaigns, and ensuring the stewardship of endowed gifts. Beth also supports the administrative functions of the Office of Advancement and Philanthropy, as well as plans and executes Advancement Events.

Mike Marshall – Manager of Advancement Data and Restriction Accounting: Mike joined Spalding University in October of 2007, and serves as the Manger of Advancement Data and Restriction Accounting for the Office of Advancement and Philanthropy. He is primarily responsible for the receipting and processing of all donations, full administration of the University alumni and donor database, and ensuring that all restricted donations to Spalding University are received and spent in full accordance with donor intent. Mike came to Spalding with over 10 years’ experience in non-profit fundraising and applicable software specializations, working for such institutions as the Archdiocese of Louisville, Louisville Collegiate School and the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville.
Mike also serves on Spalding University’s Staff Advisory Council, and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Business Management and a minor in Accounting. You may contact Mike at mmarshall@spalding.edu.
Beth Nolte – Manager of Grants and Foundation Funding: Beth joined Spalding as Manager of Grants and Foundation Funding in September 2010. She is responsible for identifying funding opportunities and managing the application process. She brings to the position over 15 years of work as a researcher, writer and project developer, the last 10 years of her career has focused on adult education in both formal and non-formal settings. Prior work includes Change Makers Partnership Manager at Jefferson Community and Technical College, course designer and instructor of Development of Leadership, freelance writer for ChemMatters and environmental science researcher and writer for Louisville Science Center. Beth is involved in the local food movement as an active member of Community Farm Alliance and served on the board of directors from 2010-2012.
She earned her Doctorate in Leadership Education from Spalding University in 2007 and holds a Masters in Plant Physiology and Bachelor of Science in Botany from Texas A&M and an Associates in Science from College of Lake County, Illinois. You may contact Beth at bnolte@spalding.edu.
