School of Business Accredited by the IACBE

On March 29, the Board of Commissioners of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) approved the accreditation  of two Spalding University School of Business programs—the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and the Bachelor of Science in Accounting. The decision was announced March 31 at the IACBE Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Accreditation from an external organization like IACBE provides our students with external validation that they are receiving a high quality education that has prepared them for the world of business,” says Provost L. Randy Strickland. “IACBE accreditation also provides the regional business community additional confidence in the quality of Spalding business graduates.”

IACBE promotes excellence in teaching and learning in business education. Since 1997, the IABCE has accredited more than 200 business programs worldwide offering associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

“Achieving IACBE accreditation confirms how Spalding’s School of Business focuses, each day, on providing student-oriented quality programs in accounting and business,” says Dr. Michelle Reiss, Chair of the School of Business.

Spalding University’s School of Business offers degrees at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. The university founded the School of Business in 1979.

“The faculty of the School of Business  are so proud to be associated with and accredited by IACBE – an organization that first and foremost focuses on excellence in business education and the outcomes of that education,” says Reiss.

Course Evaluations Are Now Online!

Beginning this March with session 4 courses, all course evaluations will be conducted online. The evaluations will be administered through a program called EvaluationKit. Students will be invited to take the course evaluation survey through email. They can use a link in the email to find their surveys. They may also access surveys through a link on the tools menu under the My Institution page in Blackboard or the tools list on course pages in Blackboard. EvaluationKit is specifically designed for conducting course evaluations. All submissions are anonymous and faculty do not see the results until 2 weeks after the end of the course. Online course evaluations will save approximately 20,000 pieces of paper annually at Spalding!

Student participation in the course evaluation process is crucial. The results of the surveys are used by faculty to continuously improve instruction, course materials and subject matter. The results are also used in the University’s evaluation of faculty performance. More information is available at /about/technology/course-evaluation/, including a calendar of future surveys.

Please take a few minutes to complete the online surveys when you receive an email announcement. The emails will be sent to your Spalding email account, so be sure to check that or forward it to another account. For instructions on linking your email to your mobile device, visit /about/technology/spalding-mobile-access/. Or if you would like to forward your Spalding email to another account, click here /about/technology/portal/.
