New Master of Education, M.Ed, Teacher Leadership Program Begins This Fall

Spalding University’s College of Education is opening its newest program in September.   The Master of Education, M.Ed, in Teacher Leadership is designed as a first, second or third masters degree for teachers.  Coursework is collaboratively designed with local districts to ensure quality instruction to meet the demands of the successful education of today’s P-12 children.   Participation with arts and sciences faculty as well as local district personnel enhances the delivery and content of the new program.  Other unique features include the following:

  • Application of research-based practices in curriculum and instruction
  • Inclusion of components of high quality professional development for the classroom and as the leader of other teachers
  • Provides teachers with current with effective leadership skills to be a leader in the classroom, the school, and the community.
  • Enables teacher leaders to develop the skills and understandings to assess student learning and thus increase student achievement
  • Core coursework is completed in six classes {three semesters}
  • Candidates complete the program by selecting Spalding elective courses/endorsement programs  of interest from many options including:  Endorsement for Reading and Writing, Endorsement for Instructional Computer Technology, Endorsement  for Teaching English as a Second Language, and Applied Behavior Analysis, and  from the Master of fine Arts program.
