		<title>Chair of Occupational Therapy to Be Honored at National Conference</title>
		<description><![CDATA[On April 28, Dr. Laura Strickland will receive the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Roster of Fellows award at the 2012 Annual Conference and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.  According to AOTA, “The Roster of Fellows recognizes occupational therapist members AOTA, who with their knowledge and expertise, have made a significant contribution to the continuing education and professional development of members of the association.”   
This prestigious honor has been awarded to less than 1 percent of practicing occupational therapists since AOTA’s inception in the 1960s. Dr. Laura Strickland is the second individual from Spalding University to receive the award; Dr. L. Randy Strickland took the honor in 1985. 		<title>Spalding, One of Four Local Colleges Partnering to Serve the Adult Learner Population</title>
		<description><![CDATA[On January 16, Spalding University was announced as one of four local colleges to partner with Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education for the Feb. 1 launch of the Signature Partnership Education Access Center. The Center, located in Parrish Hall, Simmons College of Kentucky (1015 S. Eighth St), aims to help adult learners successfully earn a college degree, offering assistance and guidance in navigating components of higher education such as diagnostic testing, advising, financial aid and college preparation.

“In support of the 55,000 Degrees initiative and as neighbors in the ‘education corridor’ Spalding is poised to assist Simmons College in any way we can,” says President Tori McClure about the university’s readiness to help the Center succeed. (cont'd)]]></description>

		<title>Two Huff Gallery events Tuesday, January 17th</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Please join us in the Library Lecture Lounge this Tuesday, January 17th, for two events:

"Once in a Lifetime" Library Lecture Lounge - 11:40 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (In Honor of MLK)

A film by the artist, Mark Birnbaum from Dallas, Texas captures the narrative of a beautiful learning experience.  The documentary chronicles eight Lincoln High School students’ journey to China.   The Dallas Observer stated “These kids experience an extraordinary adventure...it's about culture shock and having kids go into these extreme cultural situations and find their feet and become aware and become leaders." This is the first showing in a weekly Film Series (and Brown Bag Lunch) which will take place on Tuesdays at 11:40 through February7th. 

Panel Discussion: "The Crossroads in Art and Healing" 7:00 p.m.

Panelists: Rex Lagerstrom, M.D., physician and artist; Skip Cawein, artist; Jerry Hay, educator; Jeanne Tessier, Chaplain and artist; and Bill. Wells, artist.   The panelists will lead a conversation on the relationships between the creative process and mental and physical wellness.

		<title>The Huff Gallery at Spalding University Presents: Bill Wells</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Sculpture, painting and installations by Bill Wells will be exhibited at Spalding University’s Huff Gallery from January 8 – February 19, 2012.  The artist’s reception will be Sunday, January 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  A series of related events including film showings and a panel discussion will also take place during the exhibit.

“Spiritual Fluctuations” reflects upon the idea of time, “beginning and becoming,” with a reverence for the greater spiritual nature of how we experience life as a cosmic question in the challenges of this era of modernity. (cont'd)]]></description>
