Each year the U. S. Department of Education selects a percentage of Federal financial aid applicants (the FAFSA) for a review of their financial information. This review is known as Verification.
If your FAFSA is selected for Verification, you will need to submit certain information regarding:
- Federal Income Tax (Federal Tax Return Transcript)
- Household Size
- Number in College
- Sources and Amounts of Untaxed Income
The Office of Financial Aid will contact you regarding necessary documents. If there is a discrepancy in any of the above items, you may need to provide additional information. You will be notified of any corrections made. You will also receive a notification if your awards change due to a correction.
Once selected for verification, you cannot receive any federal financial aid funds (including Federal Work Study and Federal Student Loans) until the verification process has been completed. Upon completion you will receive information regarding your eligibility or additional action needed from you.
