Adult Accelerated Program

Dear Adult Learner,

Welcome to Spalding University’s Adult Accelerated Program (AAP) website. I’m thrilled that you are considering furthering your education at the Kentucky university that has delivered a quality undergraduate education to adult learners longer than any other school in the state.

I’m proud that the AAP offers adults the opportunity to take classes that meet once a week for four hours in the evening or on Saturday in seven, six-week sessions year round. In other words, it’s exciting that professionals who work during the day and who usually have family responsibilities too are able to earn an undergraduate degree quickly and conveniently by starting school at any one of seven times throughout the year.

What’s more is that most of Spalding’s full-time faculty members, along with part-time faculty members assessed for their ability to interact with adult learners, teach in the program and help ensure that the quality and rigor of AAP and traditional day program classes are equally great.

Our classes are small and our attention and commitment to students is great. Our location, central to Louisville Metro businesses, encourages employees to come to class directly from work, and we accept CLEP and Dantes exam,–as well as veterans’,–prior learning credit.

I hope you will consider joining our dynamic, diverse community of learners. At Spalding we are committed to helping you grow personally and professionally, intellectually and spiritually. The mission of every Spalding employee is to assist you in achieving your goals.

Please contact our Admissions Office at  (502) 585-7111 to discuss how Spalding’s Adult Accelerated Program can help shape your future.

Warm regards,

Dr. Linda Elisabeth Beattie, Chair

Admissions

The Adult Accelerated Program maintains a flexible admissions policy that gives serious consideration to prior occupational learning and academic achievements. Recent accomplishments and the motivation to learn are more reliable indicators of the potential for success in a college degree program than are high school transcripts. Therefore, ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission.

The Adult Accelerated Program has two admissions counselors to assist you in getting started at Spalding:

Financial Assistance

More than 90% of Spalding University’s full-time AAP students receive some type of financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, and/or student employment. Many AAP students also take advantage of their employers’ tuition reimbursement program. AAP is extremely cost-competitive compared to other regionally accredited, post-secondary educational institutions in the tri-state area.

For assistance with Financial Aid information, please contact Michelle Standridge at 873-4333

Prior Learning Assessment

Although adult students may or may not have been in a college classroom, they have often gained a wide knowledge base through employment and other life experiences. This knowledge can be used to further a student’s educational progress through Prior Learning Assessment.  Spalding accepts Prior Learning credits students have earned through standardized CLEP or Dantes exams.
