Home » Gainful Employment Information
The Department of Education is trying to make sure that colleges and universities are preparing students for occupations where students have a good opportunity to secure gainful employment (work for pay). For one, the Department of Education wants to make sure that students are gaining skills that will help to sustain them economically in the future, as well as pay back educational loans students may have borrowed to complete their degrees. The Department of Education is asking colleges and universities to disclose to students specific types of information on cost of education for particular programs and if they successfully lead to employment opportunities so that students can make informed decisions on the types of educational programs will best meet their career goals.
The following programs at Spalding University fall under the Gainful Employment programs as described by the Department of Education. For more information about these programs, click on the corresponding link below.
The O*NET was created to give students and job seekers a primary resource to find occupational information. It is a free service that is updated often when workers are surveyed in different industries to get a current picture of occupational environment and practice. The O*NET has a searchable database of hundreds of typical occupation descriptions to help job seekers explore career ideas. There are also Career Exploration Tools which are assessment instruments to help with career choice.
