Senior forward Kelly Harrod became the all-time leading scorer for Spalding University’s women’s basketball in a narrow 65-61 loss at Fontbonne University Saturday afternoon. Harrod, a 5’9” senior forward from Bullitt East High School in Mount Washington, Kentucky now has 1316 career points, surpassing Danielle Burden’s (’96) previous record of 1306.
In addition to the new scoring mark, Harrod has also surpassed several other school records this season. She now holds career records for Most Free Throws Made (379), Most Free Throws Attempted (602) and Most Field Goals Made (434).
Coach Charlie Just says, “Kelly has been an absolute pleasure to coach from the time that she arrived on campus. She works hard every single day, is always positive and is one of the toughest and most competitive players that I have coached. It’s no accident that she has had this type of career—she’s worked for it.”
