The Huff Gallery Presents The Face of God by Jeanne Tessier

September 26 – October 31, 2010

Reception: Sunday, September 26, 2:00-4:00 p.m.

The Huff Gallery is free and open to the public

Jeanne Tessier is a teacher, writer, and artist who has been making art since childhood.  For her, art-making is a form of prayer and meditation.  This particular collection of work reflects on the existence nature of divinity, God.  Jeanne’s work has been shown in group and solo exhibits, including  previous exhibits at the Huff Gallery and at the Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz, KY.  Jeanne has an MA in Communication Studies and an MA in Pastoral Theology.

This exhibit is a kind of visual meditation on how we think about and image God, as compared to who God is.  It incorporates found objects, some made by human processes and some from nature, as well as paint, paper, canvases, and other more traditional art materials.  Its intent is to invite dialogue and reflection on what we mean when we think of and image the Divine and/or wonder whether such a One exists.

The Huff Gallery is located in the Spalding Library, 853 Library Lane, between Fourth and Third Streets and Breckinridge and York Streets  /campus-map/.

The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  For information about the gallery contact Joyce Ogden at (502) 585-9911 ext.2360 or e-mail jogden@spalding.edu.
