Spalding Baseball Raises Money for the American Diabetes Association

The Spalding University baseball team has initiated ‘No Shave November” in support of sophomore Jeff Gersch, an outfielder on the Golden Eagle baseball team, who was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. During the entire month of November, Spalding players and coaches will grow out their facial hair in an effort to support their teammate and raise awareness, as well as some dollars for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

“Here at Spalding, we are a ‘clean shaven’ program, and our guys are committed to ‘looking the part” every day,” says head coach Jeremy Sheetinger, “but we thought this would be a fun way to visibly support Jeff in his dietary and lifestyle changes while at the same time committing to a great cause.”

How can you support this cause? Go to and vote daily on who you think is working towards the “Best Beard” on the team by voting every day in November. You can also help move the team towards their goal of raising $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association by making a donation.
