Spalding University has appointed Bert Griffin to chief advancement officer. Griffin, who has served as the university’s major gifts officer, will have direct oversight to all development and alumni programs including annual fund, special events, grants, capital as well as endowment programs and all other areas of philanthropy.
Prior to joining Spalding in April 2013, Griffin served as the director of development of the Salvation Army Louisville. He also served 10 years a fundraising consultant in his family’s marketing firm Griffin Fundraising & Marketing, helping organizations both locally and nationally achieve their funding goals; this included direct involvement with Spalding University’s 2009 pathways endowment program.
“As a lifetime Louisvillian and the son of a Spalding alumna, I have grown up hearing stories about Spalding, and it has always been a goal to one day work here,” says Griffin. “I could not be happier to join a compassionate workplace dedicated to student success and community advancement.”
Griffin’s service to the community includes involvement with the YMCA, Kentucky Epilepsy Foundation, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
