Dr. Heiple earned a BS in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University, an MHS in Occupational Therapy with a concentration in orthopedics from the University of Indianapolis, and a Ph.D. in Health Professions Education from Bellarmine University. She is also a Deep Physical Agent Modalities Supervisor (DPAMs). In 2024, she earned the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, reflecting her expertise in promoting safe, accessible home environments that support aging in place and functional independence. Prior to joining the ASOT faculty, Dr. Heiple specialized in upper extremity rehabilitation at the Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center (Louisville and Southern Indiana locations), where she developed advanced clinical expertise that led to her Board Certification in Hand Therapy (CHT). She obtained extensive experience in fabricating custom orthotics and treating complex traumatic upper extremity conditions, including hand replants and hand transplants. Her research interests include evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and treatment approaches related to upper extremity injuries.
