Richard Hudson, Ph.D., LPCC-S, NCC, ADHD-CCSP is an Assistant Professor at Spalding University. Rick’s background includes a long history working with individuals with disabilities: first as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Kentucky Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, then as the Clinical Director for the Kentucky Autism Training Center. He completed his doctoral internship in the Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CAPS) at Gallaudet University where he delivered counseling services for deaf students using American Sign Language. Additionally, Rick has worked in community mental health, child protective services and student affairs settings during his 30 year career. Rick’s research interests include emotional and self-esteem aspects of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults, the use of strengths-based assessments such as the Values In Action in counseling and Tabletop Role Playing Games such as Dungeons & Dragons as an individual and group therapy modality. Rick completed his undergraduate in psychology from Murray State University, holds a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Kentucky, a Masters in Counseling from University of Louisville and completed his doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Louisville. In addition to his teaching duties he also maintains a private counseling practice focused on working with adults with ADHD.
