MBA Concentrations

Accounting

The concentration in accounting is designed for accounting professionals or recent college graduates with an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting or certificate in accounting (must include accounting hours required in the state of Kentucky). This program provides additional coursework in accounting and business to be eligible to take the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Exam (CPA) Exam. The Becker CPA exam review is included as part of the program. Graduates of this concentration are skilled in:

  • Understanding and applying current accounting and business practices needed to pass all four parts of the CPA exam.
  • Addressing contemporary leadership challenges, best practices, and industry standards relating to leadership.
  • Applying strong critical thinking, decision-making, presentation, and writing skills based upon synthesis of knowledge.
  • Articulating an ethical personal leadership philosophy for a diverse and multicultural workforce.
  • Providing vision and mission articulation, problem identification and definition, strategic planning and implementation.
  • Analyzing data and presenting to target audiences.

Healthcare Innovation

The concentration in healthcare innovation provides talented healthcare professionals with vital leadership skills and business expertise to sustain optimal performance in a complex and dynamic healthcare landscape. As a graduate of this concentration, you’ll be skilled in:

  • Utilizing best practices and industry standards relating to leadership in a healthcare setting.
  • Applying strong critical thinking, decision-making, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Complying with healthcare policy in state and federal levels in both public and private sectors.
  • Articulating an ethical personal leadership philosophy for a diverse and multicultural workforce.
  • Managing human resources, including staffing and talent development, within healthcare organizations.

Human Resource Management

Human resource management (HRM) prepares you to advance your career in the field of human resources. From compensation and benefits to training and development, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of human resources and insight into employment operations and laws.

Sports Management

The program integrates essential business courses to offer a practical foundation for careers in all levels of sports, or with sports marketing firms, sports agencies, and other sports organizations. As a graduate of this concentration, you will be skilled in:

  • Utilizing best practices and industry standards relating to leadership in a sports setting.
  • Applying strong critical thinking, decision-making, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Understanding and applying business fundamentals to the management of sports organizations.
  • Articulating an ethical personal leadership philosophy for compliance with sports law and other management challenges specific to the field of sports.
  • Effectively organizing, interpreting, and presenting new information in sports.
