Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Writing

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Writing Program Overview

Immerse yourself in a full semester of intensive study at Spalding University’s Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing. Our certificate courses are taught by the supportive faculty of our low residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing, nationally recognized as a Top 10 program. In the certificate program, you’ll earn 15 hours of graduate academic credit and have the option to matriculate into Spalding’s MFA or MA in Writing program. This way, you can earn a graduate certificate on the way to completing a master’s degree and for about the same costs as the master’s degree alone. Our low-residency model makes graduate study possible for students with full-time jobs and substantial family commitments.

Courses

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Writing students begin their study with a 3-credit hour residency course filled with workshops, readings, lectures, panel discussions, and more. When the residency concludes, students begin their 12-credit-hour independent study course, drafting and revising their original creative work under the mentorship of an expert teacher who is also a publishing or producing writer.

Once they’ve completed the 15-credit-hour Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, students can transition seamlessly to continue their studies as second-semester students in the Master of Arts in Writing or MFA program.
