Campus Safety

We offer a comprehensive safety and security program, including 24-hour Security Command Center with dispatch capabilities, video surveillance and an emergency communications network. Our systems are designed to work with each other to provide seamless protection. These systems include computerized alarm system monitoring, emergency call boxes in multiple locations across campus and an emergency notification system.

To complement our 24/7 campus security patrols, we offer security escorts to or from your vehicle and/or class, and we utilize bicycle patrols to enhance response time to incidents. Our close relationship with the Louisville Metro Police Department is a critical component of Spalding’s protection plan.

Residence Hall Programs

Safety and security efforts at Spalding Suites and Morrison Hall are closely coordinated between residence life staff, security personnel and the Office of Campus Safety and Security. Both residence halls incorporate a range of safety measures including on-site staffing, regular evacuation drills, 24-hour on-call administrators and restricted key card access for residents.

Safety Education

We routinely educate our students and community about personal safety and security as well as policies and procedures during student orientation sessions. In addition, encourage students, parents, faculty and staff to register for campus alerts online and augment our education efforts with online guidance for emergency response procedures.

Additional Information

We are dedicated to providing a safe and orderly campus that is in compliance with all regulations and federal mandates. Annual reports of campus safety are available through the Office of Campus Safety, our emergency procedures, including emergency preparedness and response procedures (PDF), are available on the student portal and additional safety reports can be found in our student consumer information.

We encourage current and prospective students and families to address any safety issues or concerns through the Office of Campus Safety and Security or the Dean of Students.

We offer additional services that are designed to address issues before they escalate. Any member of the Spalding Community can report an incident or concern. This will notify the Dean of Students who will investigate the situation and potentially alert the appropriate individuals in an effort to avoid a crisis.
