Doctoral students must spend at least one year in full-time residence within the PsyD program at Spalding. This requirement is met by completing 24 credit hours of course work in one year on campus (defined as the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions). Doctoral students must also complete at least a minimum of three years of academic study plus a year of internship to receive a doctorate, with at least two of those three academic years in the PsyD program at Spalding. Doctoral students must always complete a minimum of l5 credit hours per year, except for the internship year, unless they have approval for a lighter load by the Associate Chair. Students who fail to meet these regulations are subject to dismissal.
Degree Requirements
In order to graduate with a PsyD from Spalding University, students must complete 120 credit hours, 105 of which are required classes for all students, earn a GPA of at least 3.0, with no more than one C grade and no F grades, pass the Comprehensive Examination, pass the Qualifying Examination, successfully propose and defend their dissertation, and complete an 1800-hour Internship.
Accreditation
Our Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1989. The program most recently received the maximum of 10 years of reaccreditation in 2017.
