Program Information

Spalding University’s Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program educates athletic trainers who are equipped and qualified to practice in a myriad of settings. Our students engage in classroom and clinical learning that is patient centered and team oriented. As professionals, our graduates are critical thinkers and take a holistic approach to rehabilitation that is just as focused on injury prevention as it is healing.

Entry Points

For individuals seeking a career in athletic training, the MSAT program at Spalding University offers two entry points:

The combined undergraduate and graduate degree can be earned by individuals who have not completed an undergraduate degree and who are enrolled in either the Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) or the Bachelor of Science in Natural Science (BSNS).

Upon completion of MSAT prerequisites and University Studies’ requirements, the admitted undergraduate student can complete the professional phase of the program on a full-time basis, completing both the BSHS or BSNS and MSAT degrees in two years. Upon successful completion of undergraduate coursework including 40 major credit hours, the student will be awarded a BSHS or BSNS. After successful completion of the remaining major athletic training courses (22 credit hours), the student will earn a MSAT degree.

The Master of Science in Athletic Training is for any student who has completed a bachelor’s degree in a field of study other than athletic training and has completed the prerequisite coursework, may apply directly to the two-year (62 credit hour) MSAT program.
