Housing Q&A

Two Spalding students study in dorm room

General Housing Questions

All first-year and returning undergraduate students age 20 and under are required to live on campus unless they qualify for a housing exemption. Exemptions may include living with a parent or guardian within commuting distance, being married, or having dependent children.

No, but many choose to! Spalding partners with City Properties to offer affiliated off-campus apartments just a short walk from campus, featuring furnished units with kitchens and on-site laundry.

Rooms, Amenities, and Facilities

Every room comes with a twin bed (that can be bunked, lofted, or lowered), a desk, and wardrobe closet. Suites include in-suite bathrooms, and most have full kitchens. Students on the third floor have access to a shared kitchen and lounge.

Each room is fully furnished, but you’re welcome to personalize your space with décor, small furniture, or storage items — as long as they meet safety guidelines.

Yes! Laundry rooms are located on the second and third floors of the Suites.

Absolutely. All Spalding housing includes air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and utilities at no extra charge.

Dining and Daily Living

The Spalding Café, located in the heart of campus, offers a variety of fresh, balanced meals with options for every diet—including vegetarian and gluten-free. Meal plans are flexible to fit busy student schedules.

Yes! Most suites have in-suite kitchens, and third-floor residents share a common kitchen and lounge space.

Yes, convenient parking is available near the Suites and at affiliated housing locations. Students must register their vehicles with Campus Safety.

Safety and Support

The Spalding campus is secured 24/7 by Campus Safety, with keycard access to residence halls and professional Residence Life staff on call at all times.

Each residence area has Resident Assistants (RAs) . They’re trained to help with everything from roommate issues to maintenance requests.

Yes. There’s always a Residence Life professional or RA on duty, even during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Assignments, Costs, and Move-In

Assignments are based on the date your housing form and deposit are received, as well as roommate preferences and availability. Students can request to live with specific individuals, but both students must submit a mutual request.

Rates vary by room type:

Room Type Rate (per semester)
Spalding Suites/Flats – Single Standard Room $3,900
Spalding Suites/Flats – Double Standard Room $3,020
Spalding Suites/Flats – Junior Suite Single $3,800
Spalding Suites/Flats – Junior Suite Double $2,810

Fall move-in dates are shared with students in early summer. Residence Life will provide assigned arrival times to help make move-in day smooth and organized.

Parent and Family Questions

Absolutely! Parents are welcome to assist their students. We’ll have volunteers and staff on hand to help with unloading, directions, and questions.

Each resident receives a mailbox and mailing address on campus. Package pickup is handled securely through our mailroom.

You can always reach the Office of Residence Life by email at reslife@spalding.edu or by phone at (502) 207-9482.
