Direct Application to Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT)

The MSAT program offers a pathway into athletic training for those with a bachelor’s in any field. Train in a variety of health, educational, and community settings as you work through 4 clinical education rotations. Wherever you got your undergraduate degree, you can enhance it with a master’s from Spalding!

Preferred Application as a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science (BSNS) Student

Save time and money with a direct transition into the MSAT program. The BSNS program entails overall comprehensive knowledge in natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, physical sciences, and mathematics. You can earn your BSNS & MSAT in 5 total years by beginning your MSAT courses while still in undergraduate with preferred status for a seat in the program.

Preferred Application as a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) Student

Another option for a direct transition in the MSAT program, the BSHS program offers the opportunity for hands-on experiential learning in the healthcare field. You can earn your BSHS & MSAT in 5 total years by beginning MSAT courses while still in undergraduate with preferred status for a seat in the program.

Preferred Application With a Bachelor Degree from UofL's Health and Sports Science (HSS) Program

For students graduating from the HSS program at the University of Louisville, we offer a direct transition into our MSAT program. You are guaranteed an interview and a 10% tuition discount.

With a holistic approach to rehabilitation that focuses just as much on injury prevention as healing, your education will prepare you to enter the workforce in a variety of settings, from professional and collegiate sports, secondary and intermediate schools, sports medicine clinics, hospital emergency rooms, rehabilitation clinics, occupational and industrial settings, fitness centers, and physician offices.

Our individual attention and 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio gives you the opportunity to excel further in your athletic training career.

Through hands-on practice opportunities, you will have the chance to network and gain a greater understanding of the world and your place in it. Our downtown location connects you with our community partners, including a large multi-system medical complex.

The Master of Science in Athletic Training program is now structured in a traditional semester format. This change provides you with more clinical fieldwork opportunities by aligning with local employers. The additional hands-on experience makes you better prepared to work in the field immediately after graduation.

The athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). That means that you are getting a quality education that follows industry best practices. Our goal is to achieve the best outcomes for every student.
