Spalding University Joins Nationwide Tech Upskilling Initiative
February 1st, 2023Spalding University today announced that it has joined an ambitious initiative designed to help students access the skills and credentials necessary to succeed in high-demand tech industry careers. Through the program, powered by tech talent accelerator SkillStorm, Spalding students, alumni, community members, and staff can take courses that lead to industry-recognized credentials from major tech companies including AWS, Salesforce, CompTIA, and Pega.


Spalding’s Board of Trustees welcomes four new members
September 8th, 2022In its first meeting of the 2022-2023 academic year, the Spalding University Board of Trustees appointed four new members to the governing body. Brenda J. Gonzales, Sister of Charity of Nazareth; Bridget Papalia, J.D.; Marsha C. Weinstein and Thomas Williams Jr., Ph.D., joined the current board members’ goal to advance Spalding’s mission by creating equitable learning opportunities and relevant programs that meet students’ needs.

Spalding’s Cultivating Personal Resiliency Program (CPRP) uses evidence-based strategies to reduce and address burnout
June 30th, 2022The COVID-19 pandemic has created a crisis of burnout and mental distress in our healthcare workers, resident physicians, and those training to be healthcare providers. This ongoing crisis has led to a need to enhance the education and training of students going into health related fields by adding instruction on well-being and resiliency. To support these efforts, Spalding University has been awarded a grant over $775,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grant, awarded through the Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program, will provide funding for resiliency training for healthcare students at Spalding University and the University of Louisville’s School of Dentistry.

Spalding Receives Grant to Fund State-of-the-Art Learning Facility
June 22nd, 2022Spalding has been awarded a $300,000 grant from the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana to fund the creation of a state-of-the-art Anatomy Education Center (AEC) in the new Kosair Charities School of Physical Therapy and Center for Interprofessional Education.

Spalding Unveiled New Roger Burkman Hall of Fame
May 20th, 2022This morning, Spalding University unveiled a new Athletic Hall of Fame in the Columbia Gym. The Hall of Fame is named after Roger Burkman, the retiring athletic director who has been with Spalding for 17 years.

Kathryn Dowd Awarded Caritas Medal for Improving Care for People With Hearing Impairment
May 16th, 2022After working on behalf of patients with hearing loss for over 41 years, Dr. Kathryn Dowd received Spalding University’s Caritas Medal, as the university’s alumna of the year.
