Prevalence, natural history, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of HIV
A full discussion of how the virus replicates in the blood cell and pharmacological approaches to slow HIV replication
Counseling procedures will be presented with information on the best prevention methods including negotiating condom use and approaches to educate the public on how to employ prevention methods

Motivational Interviewing for Addictive Behavior

February 18 (Thursday 6:00pm – 9:30pm) and February 19 (Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm)
This course will:
• Introduce the transtheoretical model of change, the supporting theory for motivational interviewing
• Help learners develop advanced skills in using motivational interviewing in working with people dealing with chemical and behavioral addictions
• Provide training for the core function of counseling
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of addictions is recommended
