Hard work pays off!

This spring, Spalding’s School of Business is excited to recognize two students: Sadaria Rucker-Jerman and Mirza Ugarak for their outstanding academic and professional accomplishments. Sadaria and Mirza are shining examples of hard work and dedication in their studies!

Sadaria Rucker-Jerman

Business major Sadaria Rucker-Jerman is the first recipient of the Friends of the School of Business scholarship. The Friends of the School of Business scholarship is made possible with generous donations from alumni, faculty, and advisory board members. This $1,000 scholarship provides Sadaria the financial support she needs to focus on her studies and her sport-basketball. Sadaria will graduate in June 2024 and she hopes to pursue a career in sports management.

Sadaria explains, “I am very grateful and very blessed to be able to receive this scholarship. My hard work and dedication has paid off.”

Mirza Ugarak

Mirza Ugarak, is one of the first graduates from the School of Business’s financial planning program to pass the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam! Mirza is also a member of the School of Business’s advisory board. He received his certification this June as a Certified Financial Planner.

Mirza explains, “Passing the CFP exam was an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of given the challenges I faced as a first-generation immigrant. The School of Business created the ideal environment for me to develop the skills needed to succeed in the financial planning and wealth management industry!”

Dr. Michelle Reiss, Shirley and William Merke Chair of School of Business, has led and inspired these students to soar to new heights in and out of the classroom. Her passion for applying real-world applications has helped both of these students prepare for their future beyond Spalding.
