Master of Social Work
Application Deadline
The application for the MSW Fall 2023 cohort is now open.
Admission Requirements
In addition to a completed online application, you will be required to submit the following items:
- Official transcripts
- Three letters of recommendation from professional references
- Personal essay
Once your application is complete to the MSW program, you will be scheduled for an interview.
Admissions Decision
You will be notified by letter in the mail of our admissions decision.
Doctor of Social Work
Application Deadline
The application deadline for the DSW Fall cohort is April 29.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for our Doctor of Social Work* program, you must complete an application and possess the following requirements:
- An MSW degree from a CSWE accredited school of social work
- A minimum of a 3.3 out of 4.0 GPA during their MSW studies
- A minimum of two-years of post-MSW practice experience (**see exception)
In addition to the requirements, you will be required to submit the following supplemental items:
- A resume/CV highlighting your years of social work practice
- Three letters of recommendation from professional sources
- Official transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended
- A statement of purpose describing:
- Individual professional goals and how a DSW degree will help the applicant achieve them.
- Area(s) of interest the applicant wishes to focus on during their DSW studies.
- How their MSW education helped inform their practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
- How their professional practice and/or academic experience has contributed to their collaboration with community stakeholders in an area of practice interest.
**If you have less than the required two years of post-MSW practice, you may be required to complete a 225-hour practicum prior to the start of any doctoral-level coursework.
Non-native English speakers
If you are a non-native English speaker applying to Spalding University’s DSW program, you must submit TOEFL scores. Acceptable TOEFL scores are 600 for the paper version, 120 for the computer version, and 95 for the web version.
